Physical character :
Colourless odd tilted crystal. Relative density 1.69 ( 17 centigrade) . Melting point 86.5 centigrade ( dehydration become anhydrous aluminum sulfate of white powder) . Dissolve in water, acid and alkali , insoluble in alcohol. The aqueous solution is acidity. Heat to 770centigrade, decompound become sulfur dioxide, alumina, vapour and sulfur trioxide. After hydrolyzation become aluminium hydrate. Industrial products is hoar flake , graininess or form of block, because of containing low ferric salt( FeSO4) has pea green , make the product surface turn yellow because ferric salt has been oxidized. The roughness product is hoar porous structure crystal thing , contains little vitriol , has acid and astringent smell. The aqueous solution boils for a long time generates alkaline aluminum sulfate.
Use: Be used as make white tannage , paper sizing, mordant , water-purifying reagent , water-proof reagent , clarifier reagent , petroleum deodorant , precipitator and so on.
